Large canvas nailed to wooden frame, signed on reverse
A typical vibrant and colourful Tingatinga (Tinga Tinga) style artwork, purchased from the artist in Tanzania in the late 1990s. The canvas was displayed at Klippe Rivier Country House in Swellendam.
Note: The father of the Tingatinga movement was Edward (Eduardo) Saidi Tingatinga (1937–1972) who was born in southern Tanzania, the movement started in Dar-es-Salaam and became popular with visiting tourists and collectors. The bright, colourful paintings depict stylised animals and birds, and scenes of village life.
