Suzette Munnik was an active participant in the the ceramics movement in Johannesburg in 1980 and 1990. Happy China was the name of Suzette’s workshop in the Bizarre Centre in Yeoville, where she produced a popular range of Art-Deco inspired work.
Suzette received the major award from the Association of Potters at their first international exhibition in 1998 and shared the APSA award with Lindsay Scott and Barry Douglas in 1981.
Today, Suzette lives in the USA where she is director of Xiem a large clay centre in Pasadena, California, home to a studio, store, gallery, and a full educational centre, http://www.xiemclaycenter.com/
